After punching the enemy 3 times, wait for half a second before launching D > A. Then wait for another half a second before pressing D > A. Continue doing this until enemy dies.

This cheat is only applicable when you have low HP. Davis can escape from the enemy. His mp charge will be very high, so when u try to >>JA him, he will sure use D ^ A. This makes it impossible to attack him in close range, especially those who are using close combat fighters. As Davis escape, he can build his HP. So this move is very cheap.
